1. Who can use Quokka
Quokka is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the service. We collect your date of birth at signup to confirm this. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll remove it.
You also need to be able to enter into a binding agreement in your country or region. If you can't, don't sign up.
2. Your account
You're responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your password private. Don't share the account with anyone. If you think someone else is using it, tell us so we can help.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, that hurt other people on the platform, or that we reasonably think are being used to cause harm.
3. How you behave here
Quokka exists so people can actually meet in real life and make friends. Treat people like you'd want to be treated in a small group at a park. Specifically, don't:
- Harass, threaten, or intimidate anyone.
- Post sexual content, hate speech, or content that targets a group of people.
- Dox, stalk, or share someone's private information without consent.
- Use Quokka for dating, hookups, or romantic solicitation.
- Use Quokka to sell things, recruit, run MLMs, or advertise.
- Scrape, automate, or try to access accounts that aren't yours.
- Impersonate someone else.
- Do anything illegal under Australian law or the laws where you live.
4. Content you post
You own what you post. By posting on Quokka, you give us permission to store it, display it to other users in the context you posted it, and remove it if it breaks these terms.
We don't scrape your content to train external AI models. We don't sell your content to advertisers.
5. Meeting people in real life
Quokka helps you find groups and meetups. What happens once you meet in person is between you and the other people there. Use the same common sense you'd use meeting anyone for the first time: meet in public, tell a friend where you're going, trust your gut.
Quokka is not responsible for the conduct of other users, online or in person.
6. Privacy
We collect what we need to run the service: your username, email, date of birth, profile info you choose to share, and the groups and messages you participate in. We don't sell your data. We use Resend for transactional email and DigitalOcean Spaces for file storage.
If you want your account deleted, email us and we'll remove it.
7. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects your rights, we'll tell you. Continuing to use Quokka after a change means you accept the new version.
8. Liability
Quokka is provided as-is. We do our best to keep the service working and your data safe, but we can't promise it'll be perfect or never go down. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under Australian consumer law.
9. Jurisdiction
Quokka is based in Geelong, Australia. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
